The qualifier for The Brits' Mighty Midlander 2009 was held on Sunday, April 26th and featured these events:

Deadlift (280 kg) for reps

Bench Press (180 kg)

Squat (280 kg)

Medley (Various items loaded onto a plinth)

Hand Over Hand (Four Wheel Drive)

Alex Curletto - 2nd (43 Points)

Dave Meer - 3rd (37 Points)

Simon Flint - 4th Place (34 Points)

Adam Whiteley - 5th Place (32 Points)

Midlands Britain's Strongest Man Qualifier 2009

The Brits' Mighty Midlander 2008 was held on Sunday, August 24th.  Events were as follows:

1.) MEDLEY - FARMERS WALK (120 kg) AND TYRE FLIP (350 kg) - Two men at a time, timed and measured, ninety seconds

2.) PRESS THE BARRELS X 4 - 90 kg , 100 kg, 130 kg, 140 kg - Also timed, ninety seconds 

3.) DEAD LIFT - 300 kg, wide bar, for reps

(BREAK FOR LUNCH)

4.) AXE HOLD - Both arms stretched out fully to the side, 20 kg each axe, timed

5.) ATLAS STONES - 140 kg, 150 kg, 160 kg, 170 kg, 180 kg

6.) TRUCK PULL - 8 WHEELER TRUCK, 25 metre course, timed and measure

(AWARD CEREMONY)

RESULTS:

ALEX CURLETTO - 1st

MARK WESTABY - 2nd

GARY GARDNER - 3rd

ROB MACKINTOSH - 4th
